Since qualifications and testing are fairly rigorous, this certification aims at project management professionals with extensive experience in the project management field. In general terms, the PMP certification experience and exam requirements focus on five process groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling, and Closing. The exam itself consists of 200 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 4 hours.

Candidates who successfully pass the PMP certification exam must maintain continuing certification requirements consisting of 60 Professional Development Units (PDU). Typically, one PDU is earned for every hour spent in a planned and structured learning experience or activity.
